Yes, it's a damn SUV. But it's a small SUV that could survive a thermonuclear war.
An unkillable 4.3L V6, so you'll always have a car when the Porsche breaks.
It's not the size of a small apartment complex
4-wheel-drive for actually driving through fucking snow without impersonating a formula drift racer.
200,000 miles, which for that motor is literally nothing.
Very clean both inside and out, minus the missing plastic bit on the front bumper.
All yours for $2,200.

Now for god's sake, buy something already.

Isn't that the whole point of driving on snow? I'm confused.

I own a two door blazer. It is smaller than many new cars, it will run forever without any problems. Mine is 50k miles over due for new trans fluid but I'm too lazy to do the work, still running like a champ. I also am getting 18mpg (2wd). It has enough cargo space with the seats folded down to be useful on parts runs, I've hauled many trans am body parts with it. Also, you can swap in camaro seats if you don't like the stock ones.

Not when you're doing it across three lanes of traffic, hitting everything in sight.

I'm sorry to say this, but that's small? It looks bigger than an Escape? o_0

Also, NP! That thing is gorgeous. Mine has 50,000mi less and is rusty and has a trashed interior. Also, I'm jealous of the manual trans in this one.

It's within 6 inches of the length of your Focus. I'm not kidding.
Top one is a Blazer, bottom is Focus.

It's tiny. Seriously. It is only 4 inches longer than a 944 and an inch thinner.

I thought it was a manual at first, but I think it's just a leather boot over an auto shifter.

All the one's I've looked at for sale have been column shifters except one or two, and I've look at a lot of Blazers.

It's within ~6 inches of every dimension of his FoST, so he can't complain about the size.

They are kind of ugly stock but there is a huge aftermarket parts base for visual and performance stuff. The 4300 engine in it is basically a 350 small block but with two cylinders chopped off. They drive very much like a car and not at all like my fathers old trailblazer or a pickup truck. I bought mine to use as a winter beater when my Trans Am is in storage and to haul parts. I didn't want a big truck, but these drive like a car but have gratuitous ground clearance. Do yourself a favor though, don't buy a 2wd base model like I won, get the 4wd it's worth it.

Edmunds says it has a 5700 lb towing capacity. Sounds like plenty to tow a 944+trailer.

When I was in high school in the 90s there were so many of these.
If you had one of these or a short bed 1500 pickup you were the man.
The short bed 1500 was the designated cool guy car at my HS. People would lower them a little bit (not stance). The combo of V8 and not too much weight because short bed with no cab made them pretty quick.

NEVER BUY A 2WD ONE! I got mine stuck in half an inch of snow. In my drive way. After shoveling. Twice. My parents bought it for me as a beater while my trans am was being restored and they didn't think to buy a 4wd one. I got the thing stuck in a snow bank so many times, my Trans Am is better in winter than the truck is.

Pretty much. I know a woman who had 200,000 miles on hers when she was sideswiped on the freeway. She spun out doing 70, went across 3 lanes of traffic and hit the guardrail head on doing about 25. The only thing she needed to do was replace the front bumper.
She now drives a Volvo 760 Turbo Wagon which she bought for $20.

Truly an awesome suggestion to someone who hates "big" vehicles. And for daily driving, especially as a winter beater, the performance aspects of a car shouldn't matter that much and truly isn't that noticeable. I would argue a 4x4 SUV would outperform any RWD car in the snow.

As someone who had to drive a RWD van through 6-inches of snow, I will never do it again. Fucking terrifying.

With snowshoes on, my dad's former RWD GS300 was an absolute blast in the snow. Only car he's had that was better in winter was a 100 Quattro. Because Quattro.

I've wanted one of these, specifically, a GMC Jimmy 2-door, to build a proper Gen 2 Typhoon. Blazer Xtreme body kit, GMC Envoy grille with a plain black mesh insert, and it's oval-shaped HID headlights, Olds Bravada or Envoy interior pieces... Typhoon/Bravada full-time AWD transfer case instead of 4WD locked or un-locked transfer case. Lowered and raked, but not excessively. Deep-dish S10 5-spoke 16x8 wheels with meaty tires, minimal trim, and a cool, slick paint job. GNX turbo V6, or a turbocharged V8 engine, and upgraded drivetrain and axles.
I have always liked that 2-door SUV body style... it is very Nomad-like, with the raked window angles.

.....You're in denial or fanboy mode if you think they aren't. They drive okay and are rugged, but refinement was never a strongpoint of 90s GM. Hell my mom was one of the purchasers who tried to source decent materials for the Jimmy/Blazer program in the 90s and even she says they're shitboxes that just don't care too much for dying. They're built to the lowest bidder where the SVT at least had premium parts used for the performance aspect. I'd trust an SVT focus that's been maintained just as easily if not more than a similarly maintained Blazer.
